Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatuillah;
I want to thank Allah ( subhanahu wa Taala) for keeping us alive to witness the Holy month of Ramadan and I plead to Him to accept all our Ibadat and forgive our shortcomings.
Brothers and sisters after striving so hard in the month of Ramadan it will make no sense to stop right after .
To maintain the efforts that we made in Ramadan I’m suggesting a minimum of a 10% maintenance plan..
1.We fasted for 30 days…..to maintain this great Ibadah let’s make a promise that we will
(from now till next Ramadan) will fast 3 days (10%) of every month..
It was narrated from Jareer ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fasting three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime, and ayaam al-beed are the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.” Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 2420; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1040.
2. We prayed very long qiyam (Taraweeh)….to maintain this ibadah let’s make a promise that we will pray TWO RIKAA”S (10% of 20 or 8 since there is no.8 rikaah) every night either after Ishaa or in the last part of the night.
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best of prayers after the prescribed prayers is prayer in the depths of the night, and the best of fasting after the month of Ramadaan is fasting the month of Allaah, Muharram.” (reported by Muslim).
Amr ibn ‘Absah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The closest that the Lord is to His slave is in the later part of the night, so if you can be one of those who remember Allaah at that time, then do so.” (Reported by al-Tirmidhi and al-Nisaa’i).
3..We finished reading the Quran at least once ….Let’s maintain this Ibadah by reading at least 2 pages (10% of 20 which is one Juzuu) after or before every salat…
‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allaah will earn one good (hasanah) thereby. One good deed is equal to ten good deeds the like of it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter and Meem is a letter.’”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2910; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2327..
4. We spend a lot in Charity…Let’s maintain this Ibadah by making it a habit to spend for the cause of Allah…How about 10% of whatever you spent in Ramadan…
Allah ( subhanahu waTaala) said (in the closest meaning) “Those who spend their wealth in the Cause of Allaah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve”
[al-Baqarah 2:261-262
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5073; Muslim, 993.
These are just some ideas I am sure everyone of us is doing more than that…
I ask Allah ( subhanahu wa Taala) to bless us all with the sincerity and give us Tawfeek to do what He loves and what pleases Him…..Ameen
