The Wealth of a Woman

Shaykh Al-Albaani mentioned in Silsilah Al-Ahaadeeth As-Saheehah commenting on the Hadeeth of Waa-ilah (may Allaah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa salam) said: “It is not for the woman to spend anything from her wealth, except with the permission of her husband.” (Silsilah al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah 2/338 #775)

Shaykh Al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said: “It is not befitting for the husband, if he is a true Muslim, to take advantage of/misuse this ruling therefore transgressing against his wife, preventing her from spending her wealth in that which there’s no good upon her from him. Therefore, if her husband transgressed against her and prevented her from spending her money in a manner that is legislated, then the judge is to straighten out the affair and give her justice.” Source: Risaalah Ilaa al-‘Aroosiyeen – Compiled by Abu Abdir Rahman Sayyid bin Abdir Rahmaan, Reviewed by Shaykh Muhammad Jameel Zeeno (may Allaah have mercy upon him) pgs. 155-156
